Question
Goodday!
i am building a house(3 bedroom bungalow) and didn't place reinforcement of the verrandah or Porch area from the foundation. Is it OK for me to place it now on top of the DPC floor and connect it at the top to the lintel? is it safe?

Answer
Hi idahor, with more information As to what the dpc floor specifications are at this point I would have to say no, you need to provide the porch with it's own foundation.  This may be as simple as digging under the edge of your existing slab and adding more concrete under each post location or cutting out 2'x2 squares where the posts will go and pouring a new 12" thick concrete pad for each post supporting the porch.  I hope this info helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters sincerely Bruce Johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
