Building Homes or Extensions/Electric Shower

The property I'm renting has an electric shower. The unit seems to be too open for my liking and wires are clearly visible (not the conductor, just the insulation). I'm sure this is against electrical regulations. Is it illegal?

Shower units shouldn't be open and you should not be able to see wires. I would recommend speaking to your local council. They will inspect the property and if it is unsafe they can negotiate with your landlord to get the work done and in some cases enforce action.
