Building Homes or Extensions/Installing Washroom in my basement

Question
I would like to install a washroom with toilet & shower in my basement.  How big of a job is it to break up the concrete floor in my basement for the plumbing. Also how thick is the concrete in a basement floor. Would I hire a plumber or carpenter to build it?

Answer
You really don't have to break up the concrete. You can buy a toilet kit that is six inches above the floor. Kind of like on a small platform. There is pump inside that pumps the waste into the sewer line in your basement. You can do the same for the bathtub or shower. The cost comes out about same as tearing up the basement floor & putting in new concrete. I do not recall seeing these at Home Depot, but any plumbing supply company will sell them.
