Building Homes or Extensions/Concrete footer

Question
I saw the question about a footer being poured in two different pours a couple days apart. This is currently happening to us on a house we are building in North Carolina and I had the same question.  The builder poured about half the footer and has yet to pour the other half.  Our home will have a basement with concrete block walls and two stories above that.  The basement floor will be poured inside the block wall.  With this type of construction, will the footer be okay structurally with the cold joint there.  I'm a little concerned about this.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Tom,
Yes, you should be fine.
Although I can't understand why builders do this,  sometimes it is easier especially if there are steps in the footer.
(Ideally, there should be a connection at the cold joint with re-bar)

Good luck on your new home,
Dave
