Building Homes or Extensions/Siding

Question
I'm removing some siding from a grage and I'm trying to find out how I can tell aluminum siding from vinyl siding. If it's aluminum, I can make a few bucks from it.

Answer
Johann,

If the siding is aluminum, it will have a metallic sound when tapped with a hard object such a tool handle or a car key.  Once removed, the aluminum will be obvious from the backside.

If it is vinyl, it will be very flexible, often with fake woodgrain, and will have a dull sound when tapped.
