Building Homes or Extensions/Washer/Dryer on 2nd floor

Question
Live in Virginia.  Remodeling and putting washer/dryer on second floor of our 2-story residence (currently they reside on main floor).  Are there any issues with moving a gas dryer to a second floor?  Either operational in nature (will it work the same) or safety concerns with having a gas line up to the 2nd floor.  Thanks so much.

Answer
Douglas,

No problem.  This is done all the time.

Be sure that the new gas line is installed by a skilled plumber.  It may make sense to use flexible gas line, if allowed by local codes.

Be sure to vent the dryer to the outside, using metal vent pipe.  Smooth aluminum is best: less friction and it won't rust.  Never vent a gas appliance through flexible plastic hose.
