Question
what type of caulk should be used between the joints on horizontal  pieces of siding. I am caulking and painting the house. The first caulk I used has shrunk and left a gap between the boards,it looks like rain can get into the crack.
thanks

Answer
Hi Joe,
First, let me say that its possible to "over seal" your home. Meanibng that if you get too tight, your walls cannot breathe and will cause condensation...making the paint push off the exterior walls.
But, if the caulking is not done on every seam, it would be alright.
So, to answer your question, I like a good quality acrylic caulking.
Good luck , and I hope I wasn't too long winded.
