Building Homes or Extensions/rafters

Question
I'm haveing a problem with common rafters on a screen house I'm building. The rise is 4', the run is 3'7 1/2". For some reason I can not get the correct angle or lenghs for my rafters. How do I find the correct answers and how do I set up the framing square? I'm not a novice at this, but it has been a long time.

Answer
Bart,

I'm resending this so you can try to reply again.  Good luck this time.

Bart,

Before I can answer this, I need a few pieces of information.

(1) Are the rise and run numbers that you provided for OVERALL rafter length (i.e. the building is about 6 feet wide) or are they a unit measurement, and if so what are the building dimensions to the outside of framing?

(2) I'm curious as to why you are building a roof with an odd pitch.  48" in rise over 37.5 inches in run equals a pitch of 15.36/12  Are you matching an existing structure?

Let me know a little more and I will be glad to help you.
