Question
I have what I believe are aluminum gutters on my house now that are getting old and some spots have rust.   Would it be possible for me to regutter, including down spouts myself?  If yes can you give me some directions on how to get started?

Answer
Hi Pam,
First and foremost your aluminium gutter should not rust but will oxidise and diminish through time.
It's most probable it may well be the fixings that are rusting, which can be replaced.
Can you confirm the following to allow me to assess this further,
Is it cast iron guttering or galvanised alloy guttering please check.
What size of property do you have and is it single or two storey?Detached or semi detached,
How many outlets do you have at vertical drops?
What type of roof do you have, tile / slate etc?
It may be more feasable and cost efficient to repair than to replace as it will invlove removing bottom section of roof material to install underlay etc.prior to installing new gutter.
Once you provide this information then we can progress further.
Regard's
