Building Homes or Extensions/water in ducts ,slab

Question
After heavy rains I have water entering my heat ducts. This is a slab home built in 1986 in Indiana. I have dug down to the footer and above it I have about 8 to 9 inches of solid concrete (not block). I have been advised to drill above the footer and place a 2 inch pvc in the area under the slab to create a drain. Any advice on this procedure or other remedies would be appreciated.

Answer
This isn't my usual area, but I thin k you've been given fair advice. Your local equipment rental will have a heavy duty drill and concrete bit for this job. I do feel you need a series of holes, spaced around your home. Cover the exits with screening to prevent rodents etc, from entering.best of luck
