Bulbs/Gladiolas

Question
I planted gladiolas around some old farm outbuildings and when I dug them up, each corm had many pearl-sized growths on the bottom. What are these and do I save them along with the corms?  Some fell off into the dirt but I managed to retrieve them. I live in Central Illinois.

Answer
Patricia,
Just discard the new growth around the bulb. They will probably not mature enough to bloom. I do not take my Glads up so I have only seen a few bulbs like that.Place the bulbs in a cool dry place above freezing temps and store until spring.Good luck to you!
