QuestionWhat is the best fertilizer to use for these lilies and how often should I fertilize them?
Also, After blooming, do I cut them at ground level?
AnswerHi Jeff,
The cool thing is that I have star gazers in my garden as well. You can use one of two things to fertize youe lilies. Either something naturale with a cod oil or use what everyone uses..miracle gro........but with the synthetic stuff you need to be careful. make sure you water your lily before you feed it for it may burn if you feed it on dry dirt...(trust me i've burned many of plants lol). feed them at least once a week ok.
Now to you second part of your question..............after flowering "DO NOT CUT THEM DOWN" they need to get sun after flowering for food storage. That way they can be strong for next year and they can spread to create more flowers........let the stems and leave turn brown. then go out and tug on the brown stems gently and if the come out of the ground easily that means they are done gathering food for winter.....if not let them be til the are ok.
hope this helped you out
