Question
I live in Atlanta, Ga and was wondering if I could still plant allium bulbs if I put them in the refridgerator to simulate winter.  I missed planting them in the fall and really would love to add them to my garden for this summer.  Any chance I can still do this?

Answer
Noting ventured, nothing gained.. Allium differs widely in their requirements to pre-cooling so it is difficult to say for sure. allium will happily return next year even if it does not get enough cooling this year so it is still worth a try. I would probably put it in the fridge until May 1st and then plant. it should grow immediately after due to the higher soil temperatures. Bit of a gamble but I don't see why not.

Expertise

Can answer questions about spring and summer bulbs: selection, soil preparation, planting, fertilizing, designing with bulbs. I can also give references where to buy the bulbs and how to store them. Besides the typical bulbs (tulips, daffodils, amaryllis, lilies etc) I can also answer questions about other geophytes, such as tuberous begonia, dahlias, etc. When to start indoors, light requirement, etc. My experience is in cool season areas, but I can answer questions about warm season areas if given time to research matter.

Experience

Have worked with various bulbs (spring and summer bulbs). I am presently an allexpert advicer on the lawn message board also.
