Question
Hi- thanks for volunteering! I have an Amaryllis Minerva kit. It has "gowing medium", an enormouse bulb and a pot. The bloom time is 6 to 8 weeks and I want it to bloom at Christmas. Is this bulb OK to not plant for 2 or 3 weeks? Also, as it's growing, does it need to sit anywhere in particular and how often would I water it?
Thanks again,
Lisa

Answer
Lisa,

Plant it yesterday.  It will take about a week or 10 days for the root system to start and the top will not grow uintil this happens. I have one in my office that I started two weeks ago and the tip is just starting to grow.

Follow the directions on the box as far as preparing the media and planting the bulb.  It can sit in the window or indirect light.  Water when the media feels dry.

Enjoy your plant for the holidays.

Good luck

Gary
