Question
2 calla lillies on my 10th floor balcony condo performed beautifully. As I'm sure you know, S. Ontario (Toronto) is soon going into the deep freeze. I do have a small community garden with space to transplant and the ground is not yet frozen, and space in the condo is limited, should I just spade them in or keep them inside. All my light is from the east.

Answer
Donna,
The Calla Lilies will never survive a Canadian winter outdoors, whether in a pot or in the ground. You should bring them indoors in the best light possible for their survival through the winter. You could also purchase a plant light for them if you want them to stay healthy, but it is not absolutely necessary to do so.Just so long as they are kept reasonably warm throughout the winter. When the sweather has warmed up in the early summer or late spring you can again place them outdoors in the same pot.
