Bulldogs/heart murmur

Question
I have a 7 yr old female british bulldog (Queen Annie the 1st!). She is spayed and weighs 23kg. I have had her 12mths and rescued her from a breeder who had overbred her and then had no use for her. She is in good health and not presenting any physical symptoms at present. She happily excercises for up to an hour and her breathing is pretty good for her breed. She is fed on dry food (because she will not eat meat of any description) with a protein content of 20%. At a routie check up today, my vet diagnosed a heart murmur - grade 1 (left), grade 3 (right). Other than preventing obesity, is there anything i can do to keep her healthy and minimise the risk of further problems? The murmur wasnt present at her last check up 12 mths ago.

Answer
Hi Catriona:  Don't worry - Your Queen Annie the 1st has a mild murmur on the left and semi mild on the right....
There are 6 grades of murmurs...

Here are some holistic methods you can use to help lessen the extent of a murmur and valve troubles.

BEST wishes to you!!!

Vitamin C (300 to 400 mg. daily)

Vitamin E -- Tocopherol (100 I.U. daily)

CoQ10 (30 mg. daily)

Fish oils high in Omegas 3 and 6 -- such as wild salmon oil -- (about 400 mg. daily)
Alaska makes a great Yum yum salmon oil

Also, NuVET Plus would be a wonderful supplement - all natural and safe, too
