Question
QUESTION: I have a 14 week old EBD puppy.  I have been feeding him a third of a cup
three times a day.  He weighs only 15.2 LBS.  I have read the over feeding
him might cause him hip problems later in life.  He is very active and looks
thin and small.  I am feeding him Natural Ultra Mix puppy food.  The vet says
he is fine but I would like a second opinion.  Please let me know how often I
should be feeding him and how much.  Thank you

ANSWER: Hello Eric - You can use the back of the dog food bag as a guide... Also, remember this is a guide and you can adjust to a little bit more or less per feeding.

If you want to add a little weight onto your EBD give him 1/4 cup of cottage cheese per day for about a month.  After the month is up then start him on some Salmon oil.  You can give about 1 tablespoon per day. Make sure the salmon oil is pure salmon oil.  You can find Salmon oil in any pet store.

A great Immune System Booster for you English Kid, give NuVET Plus - 1 wafer treat per day..... Excellent for skin, coat, bones, and muscle structure.  Keeps you pal health and strong for a lifetime.
Not sold in stores - only thru pet professionals and the manufacturer.

Eric, I sure hope this all helps.  Your pup will be healthy and well if you follow the above.  Also, make sure you keep up with the vet on all the WEll Puppy visits ....

QUESTION: Thank you for the advise and tips Marie.  So do you feel that a cup three
times a day is ok?  I read that he should eat as much as he can in five mins.
When I have timed it, he eats about a cup in that time.  That would mean
about three cups a day.  My vet also said that he should eat as much as he
can in five mins.  I am just afraid that I will cause him to become overweight.
The thing is that he is very skinny and compared to bulldogs his same age,
significantly smaller.  I think I will feed him this way, plus the cottage cheese
until he looks like he is putting on weight and growing.  I have never had a
small dog and I am just having a little trouble.  I dont plan on keeping him on
this schedule his whole life, only while he is still growing. Let me know what
you think about the feeding schedule and my plan, Thanks

Answer
Hello Eric:  Yes, sounds good.  Just keep a good eye on his progress. Make sure you put him on some Solid Gold " Barking at the Moon" food, if he needs to gain, in the future.
This food is great for dogs over 9 months of age that need a Boost.

Also, please consider the NuVET Plus wafer supplements.  You won't regret putting your pup on NuVET... Guaranteed to keep him healthy or strong.
