I have a 1 yr old English Bull dog and he is a very sweet dog.  Unfortunately he has a shedding issue. I understand that he is short haired and I was expecting shedding but it seems that the issue is a tad bit excessive. You can't touch him without hair falling and flying all over the place. I brush him twice a week and bathe him every two weeks. I recently noticed while brushing him, that he has has an oily dander that stinks. I vacuum one room and 10 minutes later the entire room is covered in dog hair like I never vacuumed. He also has flaky paws and a very dry, crusty nose. My question is, is there a diet I should try, or should I take him to the vet. It seems hopeless and I just need some understanding of the issue.

We can make some changes for this boy-
Buy some new dog food - Innova EVO brand - must be the EVO - you can get this at most pet stores.  Mix the old food and the new food for 3 weeks ( a 50/50 mix), then after the 3 weeks, go to 100% the new food.

Next, this boy may have Yeast overgrowth -( smell ) - let's try some Acidophilus 1 Billion CFUs... Give him 2 per day and after 2 weeks drop him down to just 1 per day.  You will need to keep him on this for a few months.  Low cost and found at Walmart or Target in the Health and Beauty aides department.
