Question
Hello, our bulldog (Katie), who is 5 1/2 years old has recently been going to the bathroom in our living room (same general spot every day).  She was at home all summer with my kids and my kids recently went back to school.  Before summer she was home alone all day but never went to the bathroom in the house.  She used to be crate trained, but has not had to be in a crate for over a year now.  Any ideas why she started going to the bathroom in the house?  We have not changed her food or increased or decreased the amount?  

Should we crate her again?

Oh boy Roxanne- This sounds like just a behavior issue!  YOU haven't make any changes in her foods - just the environment.
I think she is upset that her " pack " went back to school.
I am going to refer you over to our Behavior experts - please give them more detail...I sure hope they can give you some answers.

My answer would be , you have no choice but to start crating her when she is left alone for the day.  Let's see what the other experts say??? OK
