Question

Gus-Gus
My Bulldog is 11months of age 55lbs.  Lately he has had a hard time getting up due to the back legs.  It seems as though its hard to move them.  Once he has conquered getting onto all 4's he can move around, but he is slower than he usually is.  Can he develop hip problems this early????  We also live in an apartment and on the 2nd floor, so he does have one flight of stairs to conquer several times daily.  

We feed him Puppy Chow from Purina and he is not on any medications.

Oh Linsey, Gus is sooooo cute!!! I would make some changes to your food program for Gus.
Also, next time he is at the vet, get an x-ray of the hips.
It may just be the 2nd floor situation and constant stairs.  Bullies legs are not very long and he is putting x-tra stress on the joints.

Here is what I would like you to do:
Let's get Mr. Gus onto a better food:

Let's get him off of the Purina and onto a GRAIN free dog food:

Look for Innova EVO or Wellness Core - at your local pet store.
He is old enough to go onto the adult formula now.

Place him on a 50/50 mix of the two foods for about 2 weeks. YOU will be mixing the Purina and the new Innova EVO or Wellness CORE ...
AFTER that, just give 100% of the NEW Grain free dog food.

If you can't find Wellness Core or Innova EVO, let me know and I will suggest a few others to look for.
 It will cost more than Purina but YOU are what you eat ..... YOUR boy will be very healthy and will be able to stay AWAY from the VET office because of quality foods.
POOPS will be smaller and you feed Less of a grain free food.
Follow the amounts on the back of the bag for ideas on portions.

NEXT - lets get this boy onto the NuVET Plus wafer supplements-  NuVET will help with the hips - legs and joints - plus coat and skin, too.  After he is 2 yrs old you can place him on the NuJOINT Plus supplement.  For now, I believe the NuVET wafer will be what he needs for his legs - hips and joints.... Will reduce any inflammation and help to make the legs stronger.
