Every once in a while, Mugsy, our 3 year old English Bulldog, drools profusely.  Puddles on the floor - couch - carpet.  We've given him a benedryl to stop the drooling, but what causes it?  It is ruining my wood floor!

Hi Jill and Mr. Mugsy-  Have your vet give him a good check up... Sounds like he has some allergies... VERY common in Bullies.
I can suggest some supplements....
Also, many vets are starting to order Claritan for pets.  (NO D just the plain Claritan.  Ask you vet about this drug...
