Bulldogs/female bully in heat

Question
About two weeks ago my english bully had a dark red discharge this lasted about 4 days and was over with. I thought maybe it was a UTI so i gave her some antibiotics and now she just has a fishy odor. Is she in heat or does she just have a uti? She is 9 months and I didn't know when they go into heat.

Answer
Sarah,

Your bulldog was most likely in heat.  9 months is about the right age.  Bulldogs are notorious for having very irregular heat cycles.  The bleeding is usually longer than 4 days.

Now would be a good time to call and make a vet appointment for spaying.  Make sure to let the vet when the discharge started so they can schedule after she is no longer in heat.
