Question
Hello,
We are going to get a new English bulldog tomorrow.  She is 4 years old.  Her owners are full time breeders and they are retiring her.  They have told me that she isnt completely house broken because she is an inside-outside dog.  They have many dogs, so all of them cant stay inside the house all the time.  That was my understanding.
Basically, my main concern is whether she will be able to be house broken since she is already 4.
Thank you for your help.
If you have any other tips for becoming parents of a 4 years old bully, I would appreciate all of them.

Answer
Erin,

Yes, you should be able to house train a 4 year old bulldog.  Actually, it can be sometimes easier because your bulldog should have more control than a puppy.

The most important thing is not to let her learn to go in the WRONG place.  When you can't watch her, use a crate.  She will not go in there unless you leave her to long.

Every time she is out (of the crate), keep an eye on her.  When she seems restless, she may be telling you she has to go.

The most important thing is to always watch her until you are sure she has learned.
