Question

Jojo the Bulldog
Our English Bulldog Jojo - 11 mnths old has developed a runny nose and sometimes has this hacking cough as if she is trying to cough out something. Her nose is clearly blocked as i can hear the grating sound when she is breathing - especially after she has played or is excited. it's never happened to her. Temperature indoors is maintained between 26 and 30 degrees C. Outside it goes up to 40 degrees C sometimes. I am in India. She is Mucolite (Ambroxol) and Phexin (Cephalexin Monohydrate) 30 mg twice a day. I give her steam sessions (seem to help) and massage her face gently. we also turn the air conditioning off at night to keep her comfy - we have a ceiling fan that keeps the room cool. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

POOR girl...  You can ask the vet for an albuterol blow by - It is a machine that ( human's) use for administration of medication to help clear the respiratory.  YOU just blow by - go back and forth with the tube as it steams medication past her nose and mouth.
That would be very helpful for her!!!

Dextromethorphan/Guaifenesin (Robitussin DM ®) – This product can be used to treat coughing in dogs, cats and ferrets, at a dosage of 0.5 ml/lb every 8 hours. Make sure that it is the ‘DM’ product only, and remember that coughing can be a symptom of some very serious diseases. It can also cause some mild sedation.
