my english bulldog just had puppies via c section-they are now almost 3 days old- my female is still nesting- when i let her outside to potty shes been going under the deck and nesting- is that normal- also she has milk but the puppies are still wanting to eat when she runs out- what is a good supplement- ive heard goats milk- with or without karo syrup?- also shes not eating very good even though ive tried mixing soft food with her normal food- any suggestions- thanks

Answer
Formula for pups:

Make your own puppy formula by mixing a 13-oz. can of evaporated milk, 13 oz. of water, 4 oz. of plain yogurt, 4 egg yolks and 1 tbsp. of NuVET vitamin Powder.

Water is very important, especially with formula that includes yogurt and canned milk.
Add a dash per bottle of the NuVET vitamin powder - see below to order....
OR : A dash is just a pinch per bottle -  per 4-6 ounce bottls

After about 4-5 weeks go with this : PUPPY MUSH

Puppy Mush -
1/2 cup of Dry Kibble and 1/4 cup of the WET canned food - add some formula ( puppy formula )- 1/8 cup or less:
Offer 3 x per day until they are 4-5 months old - then it is possible to feed 2-3 x per day...
**( Your vet will help you decide what and how much to feed as they get older)

PLEASE add this great pup vitamin powder to one or two of the meals...

You can add the NuVET powder into the mush food:
NuVET also makes a wafer for older dogs.
With the NuVET just add 1/4 of a teaspoon per dog per day.

Call NuVET - this is holistic and not sold in stores...
1-800-474-7044

Tell them pet Nurse Marie wants you to give only 1/4 a powder dosage for now and LATER on - a few months, you can give 1/2 of the powder dosage per day.

AS for MOMMA - How about making some doggie meatballs for her???
see here:

Dog Meatballs - can be used for both dogs as a snack or as a meal - YOU can use this as the Am meal or the PM meal..
DOG MEATBALLS-

Dog Dog Food Recipe by Michele, provided to her by her vet.

Ground chicken  1 lb
Ground beef   1 lb
4% small curd cottage cheese
2 cups quaker oats soaked in low sodium chicken broth
peas
string beans
2 tablespoons salmon or fish oil (health food store or break open capsules from grocery store)
2 eggs
2 boiled yams or sweet potatoes -this is great protein and helps keep everything moist.

Mix together and make into meatballs the size of your dogs portion. Bake them at 350 until they are completely done.

Freeze into bags and warm up in microwave until warm and serve. They should love it and it is all digested so there is very little waste and smell.

I sure hope this helps - MOMMA can also have some NuVET powder or the Wafers...
Helps to keep her energy up and helps with milk production, too.

BEST wishes on the new pups!
