QUESTION: Hello Maria,

Please help me out here.  I have own my old english bulldog Toby for a bit over a year now and i dont even remember him being well for more then 3 consistent months in a row.  He started off with worms which we got over, then i was feeding him Essex Cottage Farms and even Urban Wolf with Chicken which seems to have made him itch quite a bit so i changed him to Fromm puppy Gold.  During this time his stool was never formed and was always pretty much soft, so i looked for answers to find none.  After a long search a new Vet diagnosed him with Giardia which after 2 weeks of antibiotics the retest came back negative which was great news. I now had him eating Orijen 6 fish and his stool started being formed even though the last bit will still be a bit soft like ice cream.  I have always added Prozyme to his diet to help him out but later on switch to Eagle Pack diggestive enzimes, so for a while his poo was formed.  Mind you that pretty much all his life he has always had a distinct smell to him not at all like my other 6 year Old English Bulldog and he has always had very faint hair loss or patching on his back when you looked at him in the sun and from time to time he will have scab looking spots with no hair.  Now at 1 year and 4 months old and its Winter here in Canada he has all four of his paws Red, Irritated and Bald.  The Vet diagnosed him with a yeast infection and provided me with some shampoo, 2 months later he still has them red and no signs of improving and to top it off he has soft stool again.  She recommended antibiotics again to see if it will help both the yeast and the loose stool, but i dont know if i want that as the poor guy had a rough start and dont want to keep giving him antibiotics.

He is always upbeat and always happy so its not like he is lethargic or anything.

I just want him healthy !! :)

Wow Guys!  Yes, first off - every day apply some BAG Balm to his paws.  This will protect them from the harsh winter up in your area.  Bag balm is made for human babies but pets use it too.
Can be found at Pet stores and in the Baby Diaper area of many stores.... LOOK around for Bag Balm

NEXT - How about some Probiotics - LOOK for 1 billion CFUs of Acidophalus - this is a probiotic that will help the overgrowth of yeast.
This can be found in any store that sells vitamins and supplements for humans.
Give him 2 per day for at least 90 days.  Will help to get rid of the SMELL>>>>>>

HOPE this helps - The Giardia can come back many times.  If you see a loose stool for more than 4-5 days, call the vet.
