Hi there, my 5 year old American Bulldog,Riley wouldn't bare any weight on her right hind leg this morning.  Last night before bed I let her and her 5 month old pup out to go potty before bed. They were doing laps around the yard in the snow. Came in limping, and I know yhe pup can be rough on her at times.

 Just last week i had her at the vets because she was having trouble getting up,thought she could be positive for lyme.  But she tested Neg. Then we got x rays done and her hips looked okay. The vet put her on Etodolac for seven days and recommended Glyco-Flex 111.  She was feeling well enough last night to run in the snow with her daughter and now this.  So back to the vets today and the vet said it seems to be a tore cruciate ligament. The upped her Etodolac to 300mg a day and i have an appointment for them to put her under to see if that is really what it is.

 I feel so bad she is the BEST dog i have EVER had and she has the worst luck with her health!!!  She just had her 1st and only litter in July and she developed gangrene mastitis! That was a long recovery and i am afraid this will be too!  I am feeding her Science Diet Large Breed, I have cut her food back because she is having trouble losing sum of her baby weight.  Do you have any advice?

Oh Boy !  Do I have some advice for you.  First off - Let's get her off the Science diet stuff as it is awful food that makes them PLUMP.... She may be able to heal without surgery if you place her on supplements , rest, and a diet.

You can always do surgery if needed, down the road.

( If you are not giving anything for pain )  Ask the VET if you can give her a *81 Mg baby aspirin only when you see she is having troubles or more pain.  
Too much baby aspirin can hurt the stomach lining on pets and people too...
