Question
We have a 10 month old English Bulldog.  She has sounded congested for a couple of weeks.  We took her to the vet and they prescribed Guafensin (PRN), as requested because we did not want to put her on a lot of antibiotics.  She is currently eating Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice puppy food. She sounds worse usually in the early mornings.  This morning in particular she threw up some bile and lots of mucus. This has happened in the past and then it stopped.  She seems to have some difficulty breathing today.  I placed her in the bathroom with a hot, steamy shower.  She is so tired, she is falling asleep standing up.  Any suggestions?

Terri, this doesn't sound good at all.  Please have some blood work done on her.  Have her lungs checked with an x-ray for pneumonia.
You need to see the vet again ASAP.
Sounds like you will have no choice but to use some antibiotics...
It may be viral but with a secondary bacterial infection.
