Question
I have a 1.5 year old Olde English Bulldog, and I'm having problems with, what the vet claims is an allergy or an internal infection. We've recently took him in and they gave us a 2 week supply of Cephalaxin, 2 times a day, 500 mg per pill, along with a shot, not sure what it was, can not read the vet's writing. Anyways, things started to improve after the shot and after the first week, the lesions began drying up, that is until we ran out of the pills, and now after being off of the meds for close to a week, his condition is back to what it was before we went to the vet and did the medicine routine. Our vet claims it is either an allergy or some type of infection, this is our second trip concerning this problem, and now he wants us to come back again for a third time, to "try another course of action", sounds good, except that it's close to $100 for the visit and then with the medicine, I'm lookin at something around $175-$200 for this trip! I mean it's getting ridiculous, the amount of money I'm spending with lack of results! A quick description of the lesions would be to say that they resemble a scratch, light pink and swollen at first appearance, then they scab up and when my dog rubs up against anything, the scabs fall off taking hair with them, so his coat looks awful. At first I thought it was ringworm, due to the lesions pattern, but now, they seem to be going any which way, no patterns. I understand that you are very busy, but if and when you get time, could you please offer up some advice?!! I'm going broke here, I love my dog, he is not in any pain or itchy, the only time he scratches at them is when someone touches an affected area, no whining, crying, or whimpering. He's been a good dog considering; I've watched what he eats since he was a pup and I bought a few books about the breed to help me along, unfortunately nothing about or nearly close to what I am currently going through. I just want my dog to look normal again. Please help, any words of wisdom would be much appreciated. Have a nice day and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
