Question

Kirbys tail
I have a 19month English Bulldog with a very tight cork screw tail. in the beginning his tail wasnt a problem but now that hes older his tail is becoming a big problem. We have noticed a foul spell that comes from his tail. everytime i clean it, it seems to bleed a little and i dont know what to do. i dont want it to get worse but his tail is so tight it is impossible to clean his tail 100%. i have really been thinking about having his tail cut but i have been reading about all the problems. I dont know what i should do. please help!!! also he has never had his tail docked. he was born with the tail he has now.

Answer
Hi Justine, Let's help Kirby and his cork screw tail.  I would never remove the tail but that is just my opinion.  Too many problems with loose poop and nerve damage after surgery.

Here is what you should try - give it a good 2 months and you should see some Major changes..

1.  Look for some Colloidal Silver in your local health food or vitamin store:
You can give  this 2 x per day - mixed into the dog food.
** colloidal Silver-  you can use this for 90 days as it has antibiotic properties.
( go on for 90 days and then off for 30 days, Then, back on again)

THIS Is an Example of what to look for .
I GET mine from the GNC ( general nutrition store)

2.  Start cleaning the area daily -  BABY wipes and ....

Clean the tail area and facial folds  with baby wipes but add a drop of water and a drop of hydrogen peroxide to the wipes - go into the folds with this 1-2 x per day.  Later on, you will be able to just do water on the wipes.  ( I LIKE to use Witch Hazel)
***Or, you can use a drop or two of  "Witch Hazel" on the baby wipes.
Witch Hazel can be found at CVS or Walgreens near the peroxide.
Don't used the Peroxide and Witch Hazel at the same time.

Make sure you don't soak the wipe with too much water - squeeze out any excess water.  USE unscented human baby wipes.  ( less expensive than the dog wipes)-

Each night - place some Collidal Silver on a q-tip and place this into the cork screw tail infected areas each night for 12 nights.

You can also add some corn starch into the folds - to keep them dry.  ( Corn starch is great for areas that have Healed)

Place the corn starch Into the tail wrinkle or folds....
JUST place some corn starch on a "q-tip" and pat into a deep fold...
KEEPs them dry.
