QUESTION: Petey's right ear had one in 2-09; he had surgery and it healed. now his left ear has one. he certainly shakes his head a lot, which my vet says could be the cause.

after surgery for Hematoma #2, he wore the hated plastic cone again for two weeks; but two days after it came off, the swelling, etc. returned. the vet drained it, but it is swelling returned. she says his ear will need at least a second draining and Petey will have to wear the cone again. aaargh! he HATES it.

can i do anything? i do not want this happening every year!

Petey's diet is Avoderm for seniors (he is 6.5 years); Rainbow brand Dog Oil; U.S. Animal Canine Discovery Supplement for Seniors; and Liquid Health Level 5000 for Equine and Canines (glucosamine with perna &msm).

ANSWER: Hi Scott and Petey!  I would love to help you.  Please try my program...

**( first -stop the following products:  Rainbow Dog oil, Discovery Supplement and the level 5000 glucosamine supplements)....( KEEP them aside for the future)

YOU will need the following  :  Continue on the Avoderm for seniors dog food ( good choice)

1. Please start on :  Vitamin E ( 200 IU ONE every OTHER day, long term )
2. Ester C ( give 500 mg 1 x per day ) long term   ( MUST be Ester C)
3. Olive oil ( pure Olive oil, give just 1 teaspoon per day )
( all the above can be found at your local CVS or Walmart)

Also, you will need to order the following from the NuVET Labs ( HOLISTIC and Natural products that are " Not " sold in the pets  stores; must call in here:)
NuVet Plus - Wafers - IMMUNE system booster and Allergy Blaster/  Helps to Reduce Swelling and aides in Healing.

You will  need 1 1/2 wafers per day long term.

BETWEEN the NuVET wafers - Vit E, Vit C, and the oils - you should see results in a few weeks.
As far as the Glucosamine product, just stay off for a few months.... ( The NuVET sure does help with Knees, Joints and Hips.....)  So, you may not need your Level 5000 equine glucosamine.

QUESTION: to clarify: the diet change can eliminate/cure the hematoma in a few weeks— in which case Petey need not have a second surgery (or draining)— or prevent another occurring?

Hi again,  I am not able to see your dog's ear.  Also, I am a pet nurse and not a vet.  My program helps to Heal many pet's with the same conditon.  Please do what you feel is best for your pal.  Mainly, I am just giving you my professional opinion.
