Hello. I have a nine month old American Bulldog. He recently had an eye surgery which required him to wear a "cozy collar."  The collar irritated his skin similar to a hot spot which in turn got infected. The infected area spread from his neck to the top of his head. At the time of the infection, he was taking clavamox twice daily and my vet then prescribed cephalexin 500mg, 2 pills twice daily.  He lost all the hair on his head and on one side of his neck but the wounds have cleared up. The problem now is that within the last week he has started shedding hair in clumps.  I can brush him and hair will just continuously fly out.  The only medication he is taking right now is the cephalexin.  I feed him Science Diet Lamb and Rice for large breed puppies. What I have read so far seems to say that is not a quality food although it is priced like a premium food.  Please help me in any way that you can.  My puppy is extremely sweet natured.  I hate to see him have to go through this.
