Question
My son is traveling to Burlington with a friend for a March 18th concert(311) at Memorial Hall.  He would like to stay within walking distance of the concert and was wondering if you have any suggestions for lodging.  He is a college student so cheap is good.  I lived in Burlington for one year(1980-81) and remeber it as a great and growing city but my family is all here in CT.  I'm sure its changed since then. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks alot.  Peg

Answer
Sunset House B&B is one I've walked by and often wondered about. Unfortunately it's probably the only affordable one within reasonable walking distance. 1 802 864 3790.

Then there's The Mid Town Motel. It's literally next door to Memorial Auditorium. It doesn't look like The Ritz, (in fact, 40 years ago it was the town jail) but if he can get a room there, he'll be the envy of the whole audience at the show because of it's location...It's at least worth a call to 1 802 862 9686.

A search of Burlington area hotels and motels will turn up a number of relatively expensive options within walking distance too: The Hilton, The Willard Street Inn, Lang House, etc.

The price of a short cab ride will allow you to save LOTS of money by getting to the motels and hotels on Williston Road or Shelburne Road. There are many of them, perhaps a dozen on both of those roads... I'd use a search like the one above and just shop for price: The University Inn and Suites, The Doubletree, The Holiday Inn, etc. Ask them to confirm they are close to town when you call...

I'm sorry there isn't much else within walking distance!
