My husband and I are moving to VT, but we don't know what part of VT would be the best for a semi retired couple.  My husband is on disablity and needs to be close to a VA hospital for dr appts.  I am still working age, but don't want to have job that is as demanding as what I currently have.  I have never been to VT, my husband grew up in Boston, MA.  Small town, with access to local markets, or driving to a job and VA hospital.  Any suggestions?

I wish I knew more about this subject than I do. I believe the VA hospital which would serve your husband is in White River Junction. That's about an hour and a half from Burlington, where I live.

If I wanted to live in VT. but near White River Junction, I'd look at Windsor County and Orange County VT. But there are happy retired and semi retired Veterans all over the state. Since you haven't been to VT., why not visit White River Junction, and some of the surrounding towns, which include Quechee and Woodstock, Norwich (home of the famous military academy), Randolph, Royalton and Strafford? I can't promise you'll get all your questions answered, but if you time the visit to coincide with the Autumn foliage, I'll bet you'll have a very memorable trip!    

If an hour and a half doesn't seem like too long a drive to the VA hospital, then Burlington, and the rest of Chittenden County are within reach and that's an area I do know about.
