Expert: David Beckett - 3/5/2010

David,
My family and I will likely be moving to Burlington from the DC area. While I am not medically fragile, I do have a very rare chronic, debilitating connective tissue disorder. I typically see several medical specialists every few months, usually at research or medical school hospitals. Harvard's Beth Israel in Boston is 3-4 hours away, and Dartmouth's hospital is around 2 hours. Are those my best options, or is there one I've missed? I've checked into the facility in Burlington, and it would be adequate for the rest of the my family, but not for my care.

I'd have thought Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington would have been up to the task, being a major regional facility, but of course I'd have been wrong :-)

The only other thought I have is Montreal, but it's A) the same distance as Dartmouth, and B) in Canada, and I don't know if that rules it out for you or not. Montreal's a favorite destination for a lot of us in Burlington, but it may not be of any help to you...

I wish I could think of another option, but that's all that comes to mind...
