Hello,

I know you answered this question in 2006, and I would like some updated information.  I'm a single mother of a teen and we would like to know about the treatment of minorities there in Vermont at this time?  Where can we get some information about jobs, housing and the arts?

I live in Burlington, so I'm much less familiar with the rest of the state than I am with greater Northwest VT.

I've been accused of being a bit of a pollyanna, but I think most Vermonters strive to treat everybody with respect. Respect for diversity is very important to educators and others here.

For Jobs I'd look at The Burlington Free Press, Seven Days, and jobsinvt.com All are easily found online.
For rental housing, try the two newspapers mentioned above. Also try Curt Wheeler Property Management and Preston Property Management. Rents are very high in Burlington and get less expensive and fewer in number the farther away you get...
For the Arts, have a look at the Seven Days Website and also see flynncenter.org
Burlington regularly wins awards for being friendly to the arts and for being a place where people get a lot of opportunities to participate in one way or another.
