Question
My husband has accepted a position in Burlington and we are planning a move from the Washington DC area. We are looking for a rental to begin with and would like a to find something with a little land but not too far from town. Can you tell me which areas would be best and what are considered "commuting" areas that are decent but not too far? I am looking at ads but have no idea what might be too far to drive daily.
Thanks,
Lorraine

Answer
Hi Lorraine -

Please forgive the delay in responding - I was in the car all day yesterday...

I believe most of the rentals you'll find will be in the towns closest to Burlington - the farther out you go, the more rural and the fewer rentals - and those towns would be convenient for commuting. South Burlington, Williston, Colchester, and Essex Junction are likely to be your best bets. There are even several parts of Burlington which would offer you the feeling of a little land or elbow room because of the parklands, bikepaths and so on.

Please feel free to ask me about specific addresses - I can give you a sense of the commuting time and so on.

I hope that helps!
