Burlington, Vermont/temporary inexpensive housing

Question
David:
I'm considering an offer to relocate to the Burlington area, however, there's virtually no relo assistance from the company.  I have a house to sell where I'm at now, so I'll be paying that mortgage plus whatever I have to pay in rent in Vt until I sell my house and can buy one there. Can you give me any advice or leads to find a nice, clean, preferably furnished inexpensive temporary place to live (even a room would be ok).
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jim

Answer
Hi Jim -

I can give you numerous phone numbers and suggestions for places. The rental market is really really tight here. I did just find something for a relocating IBM employee. She needed a 2 bedroom place and after we saw 11 places in 2 days, she chose something in Burlington itself, for 1000 a month with offstreet parking and heat included that will suffice until she sells her place and I can assist her in purchasing something in the Burlington area.

Would you call me and I can give you some ideas and numbers of people to call? I can fax, mail, or read to you a long list of phone numbers of property management firms, apartment owners and rental agencies etc etc etc.

I'd also be more than happy to send you current data on what's for sale so you'll have a sense of what the purchase market is like for future reference. I can email you a "hyperlink" which will give you info right out of the Realtor database I use...color pictures, detailed descriptions etc.

You may want to begin by looking at The Burlington Free Press classified advertisements. Also Preston Property Management. Both have websites with rentals on them - but that's just the tip of the iceburg. Give me a holler and I'll get you the rest of the list!
