Question
Hi there, 3 days ago i burnt my right calve muscle on the exhaust on my bike..It wasn't too bad at first(color whitish n yellowish)i put solosite on it, then ofcourse antiseptic liquid to prevent infection, after that bandaged it up...
Later that night i went to the chemist and they recommended a cream (which they said would work best for my burn) the name of it is (FLAMINAL HYDRO) Everybody i have asked in that industry has never heard of it..I wanted to know if u have ever heard of it before?????????
After 2 days use of the cream, the open burn has started to bleed heavily (which it wasnt in the beginning) and the cream is feeling n looking like it is eating my tissue away..I just went to hospital and they said they have never ever heard of the cream, and that my burn might be starting to get infected because of it, and also the tissue has been eating away .Do you think maybe the pharmacist didn't know what they were handing out?? As she quoted when i went back there "OH, its new on the market, and the pharmacist wasn't too sure, as i was the first to ever buy n take it home..Is that  professional negligence in your opinion????????

I know this is a long question, but any opinion of yours would muchly be appreciated as the burn has now caused me to not be fit to work for 4 weeks ..

Thank u so much for Reading my question..
Appreciation PLuS!!!:)

Answer
Hi,

Never heard of the medication.

In the mean time cover the burn as provided by the hospital and lose the notion of Flaminal Hydro! I wouldn't necessarily call it a case of medical negligence,as t might work well on someone else.

But This sounds like a serious wound and Let keep this burn under care.

Expertise

I can answer a variety of questions concerning the physical care of burns and burn patients which commonly are of interest to both patients and their families. Also I may be helpful in suggesting lifestyle modifications which will help with a more complete recovery from a serious burn. I can also accept questions regarding the physical classifications of burns and the implications regarding the size, depth, and location of burns. What I cannot answer based on my own knowledge and experience I can refer to my current and former collegues in the field including the plastic and trauma surgeons and burn recovery organizations. In many of these cases I will provide a line of communication directly to a specific expert or organization. While I can describe general treatments routines with which I am experienced,I cannot answer questions dealing with specifuc diagnosis of conditions or problems. Additionally, please understand that the area of burn treatments is an experimental one in which there is constant progress and change. Each Burn Center invests a major effort in the development of new materials, treatments, medications, and techniques. In this area of constant change and growth no one can be fully aware of all treatment courses employed.
