Bush, Kate/Father
Expert: Lee Bastian - 5/9/2005
QuestionA confluence of memories lead me to this message, to you.
I used to watch a Kate Bush VHS from the ages of...birth, until 9 years of age.
I have seen the video at least 50 times.
What sticks out, is Running Up That Hill.
Is this an actual portrayal of her Father?
If it is, Kate Bushes father may be Vannader Bush.
He may have created something called the Pabulum Seed, which is capitalized on today in the shadowy parts of government, to control weather.
This is not a joke, nor is it a prod at you, or Kate Bush.
I am very intrigued to know if her father actually researched fringe science.
Thanks for reading my message, and I would very much enjoy a reply.
In Love, Devin
Answer Hello Devin and thank you for your question.Having looked up pabulum I found the definition to be:a)food b)food for thought.Your question is certainly the most interesting I've received on this site and indeed raises food for thought.
Kate Bush was born to parents Dr. Robert Bush and his wife Hannah. He had a general practice. As far as I know he was just a medical doctor.I do not know of Vannader Bush, but he is not Kate's father.
Before I get into a lot more detail,I believe the song to which you refer is actually "Cloudbusting" and not "Running up that Hill".Kate's song "Cloudbusting" was very much inspired by a book that Kate read titled "A Book of Dreams" by Peter Reich. The book is about a special relationship between a young son and his father, written from a child's point of view. The father,a respected psycho-analyst,teaches his son to be open minded and not to put up barriers. The father builds a machine that can make it rain, and father and son go cloudbusting together.
The song is making a comparison between their relationship and a yo-yo that glows in the dark. The child was told to get rid of the yo-yo because the material that made it glow was dangerous, just as some people considered the boy's father dangerous. But the son buried it in the garden instead of throwing it away. That way he placates his father but can also go dig it up and play with it on occasion. But there's nothing he can do about his father being taken away,he's completely helpless.
So the song is more to do with how the son begins to cope with the loneliness and pain of being without his father. It's the magic moments of a relationship through a child's eyes, but told by a sad adult.
I could not find any information about the Pabulum seed or Vannader Bush, but I can't discount your theory about weather control by the shadowy parts of todays governments. In fact it makes a fascinating conspiracy theory.
Thank you again for your question and I hope my reply is to your satisfaction.Any time you should have a question regarding Kate Bush or her work, please don't hesitate to ask me.It is always my pleasure.Have a great day!
