Question
About Kate's only tour...'79, incl the Hammersmith Odeon performance that is preserved in whatever 4mat...

Birgitte: (Hope you are the one 4 this query):...I have a copy of the '79 Hammersmith perf, both on VHS & DVD...both are just under an hour, have 12 songs, etc..I also have the cd of the soundtrack, etc...what I'd like 2 know is if the set-list on the Hammersmith show was / is the same set that Kate performed thruout that tour...would this be correct?...did she only ever perform 12 songs during that (only) tour that she did?...I guess there were longer gaps between songs live than on the (edited between songs?) taped performance, 4 costume changes, etc...would this be correct?...seems strange that if this is / was the set-list that she did not perform ''Man w/Child in Eyes'' that tour as she had performed that song many times early in her career & it seemed 2 have been a favourite of hers & her audience...+ she did it on SNL back in '78...so...did Kate ever perform MORE songs on that '79 tour than ended up on the Hammersmith performance?...were there any songs @ the Hammersmith show that did NOT make it 2 the video-dvd release?...I hope you can anser this, but if not, thanks 4 your time...

Also (hope this is OK, stacking questions like this) where can one find a copy of that ''Lovehounds'' release w/all those nice Euro TV appearances by her?...has it ever been released commercially?...is it (or will it?) ever be available again?...

Also (sorry, but I just ran across this on Amazon) there seems 2B some sort of Kate DVD coming out in June:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EXZHPQ/qid=1143604419/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002...

...Know anything about this?...thanks...Danger...

Answer
Hello,

It doesn't matter that you combined several questions, I'll give you the answers below.

Question #1
what I'd like 2 know is if the set-list on the Hammersmith show was / is the same set that Kate performed thruout that tour...would this be correct?...did she only ever perform 12 songs during that (only) tour that she did?...

No, she did MUCH more than just those 12 songs. The complete setlist contained all songs of The Kick Inside - with the exception of Oh To Be In Love - all songs of Lionheart and two songs of the (then) upcoming album Never For Ever: Egypt and Violin.

There are bootlegs that have the entire concert on it - all in very bad sound quality. The reason why not all songs are included on the official CD and video is that the sound and image quality was ruined by engineers during several songs, so a lot had to be left out and it's highly unlikely it'll ever be officially released.

Question #2: I guess there were longer gaps between songs live than on the (edited between songs?) taped performance, 4 costume changes, etc...would this be correct?

Yes, the video and CD are both *very* incomplete. The entire concert featured not only songs, but also a chant, readings by John Carder Bush (Kate's brother), and incidental bits of music, all of which were heard while Kate changed costumes in between songs during the concert.
Specifically, there are: a heartbeat passage preceding "Room For the Life"; an ethnic chant performed by the band in unison; two synthesizer introductions to songs; three brief readings by John--one known as "Two In One Coffin" (preceding "The Kick Inside"), the others passages of unidentified prose (perhaps by John); an arrangement of Satie's 1st "Gymnopedie", which is used to frame  "Symphony in Blue", and a short jam session by the KT Bush Band.

Question # 3: seems strange that if this is / was the set-list that she did not perform ''Man w/Child in Eyes'' that tour as she had performed that song many times early in her career & it seemed 2 have been a favourite of hers & her audience...+ she did it on SNL back in '78...so...did Kate ever perform MORE songs on that '79 tour than ended up on the Hammersmith performance?

Yes she did, see your first question for the answer + explanation why.

Question #4: Also (hope this is OK, stacking questions like this) where can one find a copy of that ''Lovehounds'' release w/all those nice Euro TV appearances by her?...has it ever been released commercially?...is it (or will it?) ever be available again?...

I doubt it'll ever be released commercially as it's a compilation of TV appearances and interviews to which EMI doesn't own the rights. But time will tell I guess.

In the meantime you can download the image for the Eat the Video double DVD here: http://www.torrentz.com/torrent_171498.html
You do need a BitTorrent program for downloading the files for that.

Question #5: Also (sorry, but I just ran across this on Amazon) there seems 2B some sort of Kate DVD coming out in June:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EXZHPQ/qid=1143604419/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002...

I've seen it but I don't have a clue what's supposed to be on it. There hasn't been an official announcement about it yet, so don't hold your breath. Amazon lists more things that never get released. They've had the DVD for The Line, The Cross & The Curve on their site for years and it's quite clear that this DVD isn't going to happen.

I hope this information is helpful for you.

Kind regards,

Birgitte
