Bush, Kate/Kates absence
Expert: Lee Bastian - 12/10/2004
QuestionWas Kates absence from the music industry caused by a nervous breakdown? Apparently I'm talking rubbish as we have a lot of Kate Bush "EXPERTS" IN MY PLACE OF WORK!
Answer Hello Adam and thanks for your question. As far as I know Kate Bush has never had a nervous breakdown. All reports I've heard have her happy and healthy.
She has always been a perfectionist and likes to take her time with her work. Also, she makes sure to have lots of time for family and friends.I think that perhaps she may be a little uncomfortable with celebrity status (at least in England ,she is considered a celebrity)and she does things her way at her leisure and I can certainly respect her for that.
She did have a child(a son named Bertie) a few years back and took plenty of time to be a mother to her newborn.I like to think of her abscence from the business as a sabbitical more than anything.
In 2001 she began some recording at Abbey Road studios for a new album. This has been confirmed by people at EMI records and by musicians who recorded with her.She had some orchestration work done by the late Michael Kamen whom she had worked with before.
Some reports predicted that her new release would be in the year 2004 but I would not be surprised if that did not happen.I believe she is taking her time with overdubs and mixing which,in recent albums, have become the bulk of the work in making a record.I expect it to be nothing short of miraculous because she always has been a perfectionist and it will likely be her last release.
So keep the faith,I'm confident that in the next 12 to 18 months there will be new Kate Bush music. And I'm quite sure the nervous breakdown bit is erroneous.
I hope this helps answer your question. Thanks again and have a great day.Should you have more Kate related questions please feel free. It's always my pleasure.
