Hi, I heard that the lyrics to this song were inspired by a Stevie Wonder concert. Could you please elaborate on this and explain how. They have always been a mystery to me! Thanx.

Hello Maria and thank you for your question.Kate had been overworking herself during the writing process for her fourth album,The Dreaming(considered by many,myself included, to be her best work)and during a much needed break attended a Stevie Wonder concert.I believe she already had lyrics to Sat In Your Lap.However she enjoyed the concert very much and was so energized that she laid down a full demo of Sat In Your Lap the very next day.I guess the concert did inspire her but I don't think it had anything to do with the lyrics which are quite cryptic(as are the lyrics in many of her songs).My take on the lyrics is that no matter how much knowledge one has,success will come, or not come, strictly by fate.I hope this helps and feel free to ask me more Kate questions.Always a pleasure to hear from other Kate fans.
