Answer
Hello Natalie and thanks for your question. The song is titled "This Woman's Work" and was originally written by Kate Bush for a movie.Director John Hughes sent Kate a clip of his movie "She's Having a Baby" and wanted music to fit that scene. In this scene,a young man paces the floor while his partner is in the delivery room giving birth to their child and there are complications with the birth.
So,the song is written from a male's perspective. In this case, the lyrics suggest all of the feelings and thoughts going through his head. How he should have been there more for her.All the things he could have done but he never did, etc. He finds himself having to grow up in a hurry.
The song was then included on Kate's 1989 release,"The Sensual World".This song has appeared in at least two American TV shows, and I'm sure many more in Britain and throughout Europe.
Thanks again Natalie for the question and I hope my answer helps you.Have a great day!!
