Question
Hi sorry to bother you; i was just browsing the net and came across a previous answer you had given out regarding Kate bush's  song this women's work.
I have been told that the song was about a women dying whilst giving birth to a child.
I just wondered which one was true seen as i am studying it for a GCSE.

Answer
Hi Thom.No bother at all.Thank you for your question. It's my pleasure to clear this up for you.Kate Bush wrote this song at the request of movie producer John Hughes. He sent her a video clip(from his movie,"She's Having a Baby") and wanted a song to match the video. The song was later included on her "Sensual World" CD.In the clip a young father to be nervously waits while his bride is giving birth. All these thoughts are rushing through his head;how he could have been there more for her,how he's being rushed into maturing, etc.
For a better understanding,I suggest you check out the website "Cloudbusting:Kate Bush in her own words".Click on "Kate talks about her music" and select the song. Here you can read what Kate Bush herself has to say about this or any of her other songs.
The song is definitely not about a woman dying during childbirth. The song is written from the young father's perspective and is all about him and how he wishes he were a better husband, and hopes to be a good father.Anyway,I hope you check that site. Also of interest is "Gaffaweb".This website is the one stop source for all things Kate Bush. Thanks again for your question.I hope I was able to help.Have a great day!
