Question Is there anyway to get around paying the $329.00 they want me to pay in order to obtain a DUNNS number?
I'm a real estate investor and I would one day like to obtain financing for purchasing homes in the future in the name of my LLC. I was told that you want to be careful what you tell the people at DNB when you call them... After sharing with you what I want to accomplish by building my LLC's business profile, what information should I share with them (or NOT) when I call to prevent saying something that will potentially damage my profile at DNB?

Thank you for taking the time to write to me about Dunn and Bradstreet ( dnb.com ) and the fees that they now charge to "Officially" open a DUNS FILE.
To those who do not know what this is, go to one of my websites, www.businesscredituniversity.com and you will learn a lot.
In the past, DNB has not charged to "build a file", however, now they charge between 300-500 dollars minimum to create and verify the file.
Now, here is the deal. Your vendors FOR YOUR BUSINESS are reporting monthly. nce you have 5 vendors that report, then you will essentially have a file that is created.
DNB argues that you can submit 5 credit references and they will build a file for you for 500.00
If you have been in business for a while, they have a number on your company. Just go to DNB.com and search for your company name. Get the Duns Number, and then look up the E Update service.
Voila! Now you have the ability to update your own report ! All at no cost. You will then get a Paydex Score and a high credit amount. Easy as Pie.
Now, give them all of the basic information except for the financials. That will come at a later date. The most important things are the START DATE OF THE COMPANY and the PAYDEX SCORE (Needs to be 80) and you are set.
