Question How is it legal for amex to ruin my credit by posting a collection on my credit for a credit card that i did not sign for or guarantee. I was the controller in a mortgage company and I had a card for ease of monthly bill management and running the office. Most the charges went on my card as I paid the bills for the company. However it was the owners credit. Now they want to put me in collections and they shut down my personal accounts with them. It doesnt seem like blackmail to me it seems illegal and their practices should be stopped! If they want to make employees responsible then the employee should have to apply for credit and understand it is their credit not this shady collection practice they have going.
Answer Sharon:
Thank you for your inquiry. I regret the situation and distress this has caused you. Without the benefit of knowing every detail of your case, it would appear that this is a legitimate dispute with Amex. Have you thought to contact them, in writing to verify the debt is not yours? You can also contact either a reputable/licensed credit repair agency in your area to dispute and repair the damage on your behalf or you can speak to an attorney that may be able to represent your interest in this matter. Although this situation is not pleasant it should be able to be resolved with further effort.
I wish you the best in that resolution. If you found this answer helpful, please take a moment to rate it so others may benefit as well.
