Business Debt - Corporate credit card

Expert: Michelle Dunn - 4/20/2008

Question
I had an Am Ex corporate card. My company was extremely slow in paying and I was turned over for collection for being 180 days past due. I checked my credit report and this did show up. Finally, the company has paid the balance. How long will this stay on my credit report and is there anything I can do about it.  I had excellent credit before this happened.

Answer
Was your name on the card? Did you sign anything when they gave you the card? If you applied for the card it would be reflected in your credit. If it was a company card that you did not have in your name or apply for it should not affect you. You can dispute the item with the credit bureau and ask that your dispute letter be included with your credit report when anyone pulls your credit until it is resolved.
