Business Debt - Michelle, question.

Expert: Michelle Dunn - 6/12/2009

Question
Michelle, we are getting ready to roll out a B2B collection
agency (BizCollections.com) and if you have experience in
small business or B2B collections could I speak with you for
about 30 min on Monday or Tues (would be glad to pay or
join). Thanks.

PS. Just basic questions such as:
- Do we need any licensing if no consumer collections?
- Do we need bonding if B2B or only if a client wants it?
- Do you have example agent agreements on your site we could
tailor?
- Any interstate issues we need to be cautious of if B2B?
- Any issues in our threatening to report matters to D&B?
- Are we required to send Cease & Desists to previous
agencies if B2B or just good practice?

Answer
Michael,
Yes, I offer consulting on starting an agency.  You can check out my fees at http://www.michelledunn.com/shop/catalog.php?category=4
I am availble M-F 8am - 6pm EST.

To answer some of your questions:

Do we need any licensing if no consumer collections?
Yes, if the state requires it.

- Do we need bonding if B2B or only if a client wants it?
YOu need to be bonded if that state requires it.

- Do you have example agent agreements on your site we could
tailor?

I have some in my book, "The First book of Effective Collection Agency Letters & Forms"  there may be some available online if you do a search as well.  The contracts and letters in my book have been reviewed by attorney's and were used by agencies in the past with the most effectiveness.

- Any interstate issues we need to be cautious of if B2B?
Licensing and bonding.

- Any issues in our threatening to report matters to D&B?
What do you mean by threatening to report?

- Are we required to send Cease & Desists to previous
agencies if B2B or just good practice?
I don't understand this question. Do you mean if the account is a second placement?

Sincerely,
Michelle Dunn
