Business Debt/debt collectors harrassment

Question
I just got a new cell phone and these people keep telling me to contact them about debt. I'm not even an adult yet and don't have credit cards, and the number that keeps calling me looks more like a cell phone number then anything else.

Answer
Briana:
You are likely to be on someones call list. Ask who they are attempting to reach, then tell them that you have a newly acquired number, and you are not the intended party they are trying to reach. If calls persist you can refuse to answer as this will lessen the calls if they don't get the gratification of speaking to someone. If they do get you on the phone, find out who they are; a name and address of company and tell them you will report a violation of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act). If you have an adult that can take this call on your behalf they can likely handle this more efficiently. Also contact your cell carrier and ask how to make your number private, or opt out of solicitation calls, and block numbers.

Good luck!
